How We Work

As we establish our operational framework, our Alliance currently convenes monthly with two divisions, Pacific (US West Coast and Australia) and Atlantic (Eurasia, India, UK, US East Coast).

During these initial stages, all Members agree to our Terms of Reference and we emphasize the following key principles and practices:

  • Online Collaboration Hub: We have created a dedicated online platform where our members can openly exchange ideas and proposals for discussion. The topics addressed in our meetings are determined through pre-meeting voting.
  • Specialized Working Groups: To delve into intricate and nuanced issues and foster mutual understanding, we have formed specialized "Working Groups." Our inaugural working groups focus on Scientific Methodologies and Communications.
  • Chatham House Rules apply: Our work is guided by the Chatham House Rule, which creates a trusted environment for addressing complex challenges. In accordance with this rule, participants are encouraged to share received information, but they are obligated not to disclose the identity or affiliation of the speaker(s) or any other participant without consent. This rule promotes free and open discussion, with the assurance of confidentiality.
  • Competition: We believe in full and fair competition. ISCIA’s activities must not lead to a restriction of competition between members, nor should meetings of members that ISCIA organizes or supports be used by members to discuss or coordinate future market behavior resulting in a restriction of competition.

This approach allows us to work cohesively, respecting diverse perspectives while safeguarding privacy and promoting an atmosphere of trust as we collectively tackle pressing issues.

Diversity, gender equity, and inclusion are critical to the success of ISCIA. ISCIA recognizes the wide range of participants necessary to achieve the organization’s goals. Each participant adds value, and ISCIA draws on all knowledge, experiences, and cultures, and embraces inclusive excellence. Participation in ISCIA is voluntary.

Observer status:

In addition to membership, there is the option of being an observing entity to ISCIA. Observers take part in ISCIA meetings, workshops, and events as well as the asynchronous communication channels but take no agency to drive ISCIA’s development, agreements, publications or actions.
